#OneGoodThing in 2016

As#OneGoodThing 2016 begins, I am choosing to focus on something positive each day and to share it with you.

These last few years have been difficult for me — and not just in my role as a full-time caregiver for my beloved Mama. I have also been struggling with my own chronic health issues. Thanks to Obamacare, I now finally have health insurance and can get help. So I guess I fulfilled my last (ahem, several) New Year’s resolution(s) to take better care of myself. Though I suspect that’s an unending task.

Mostly I didn’t blog much in 2015. I didn’t write much at all — outside of heavy editing and rewriting on my novel. I guess it’s because I try to stick with, ‘if you’ve got nothing good to say, say nothing.’ And frankly, I find it hard enough to share my struggles with my closest friends, let alone write about it on my blog. So here’s what I’m telling you… it’s been a rough time for me personally. And this year, I am determined to find the light in the darkness by discovering at least #OneGoodThing each day. Some days it might be something small; other days it might be something big. Some days it might be something good that happens in our world, or something yummy I make, or something that makes us laugh, or just anything good I can find in the day. We’ll see where the year takes us, shall we?

The Nosy Parker Family by Kathlynne Moonfire

On the first day of #OneGoodThing I want to share with you what’s most important to me. This Jan. 1st, 2016, I am deeply grateful for my immediate family. We are a small but strong 3 (and yes, little Abby counts as a full one… have you seen her personality?). We all spend a lot of time together, but here’s what’s great about it… we all genuinely like each other (most of the time). We’ve found it confuses people sometimes. But we love to hang out together (a major bonus in the caregiving world). We crack each other up constantly… like the laughing so hard your stomach hurts, you’re crying and you can’t breathe kind of laughing — on a daily basis. And Abby certainly contributes to our laughs. She exhibits a lot of sass and spreads a lot of love and joy.

Today’s #OneGoodThing is FAMILY!

Day 1 of 366.
