Jewish Christmas

TJs Chinese food

Trader Joe’s Mandarin Orange Chicken and Stir Fry Vegetables

Ever since I was a kid, we have always celebrated Christmas with Chinese food and a movie.

For us, it began out of necessity. I clearly remember Mama driving us around San Jose, Calif., one Christmas in the early 1980s, searching for anything open where we could get food. Literally our only option was a Chinese restaurant called 4-5-6. Thus a tradition was born.

Today we did the low-key version. I “made” Chinese food (with the help of Trader Joe’s) and we streamed a movie onto our TV — thereby combining the traditions for the ultimate win: Chinese food WHILE watching a movie WHILE wearing pajamas!

Today’s #OneGoodThing was our American Jewish Christmas! I hope you had a happy day — however you chose to celebrate!

Day 360 of 366.

What was your #OneGoodThing today? How is this day celebrated (or not) wherever you live? Please share in the comments!

      • It was a combination of rye/linseed flour and white flour, and it turned out very well. I’ve been making sourdough bread, but it’s a 2 day project, with varying results, so I’m back to good old fashioned bread again. The process of kneading is rather therapeutic!
