90-day supply at last

Today I received my first-ever 90-day supply of the prescription injection I have to give myself every day. This may seem like nothing, but this was truly nothing short of a miracle.

I was diagnosed with Autoimmune Pernicious Anemia a little more than a year ago. Determining dosage is a very personal struggle and no two people are alike. I did not receive the standard Loading Doses and ended up getting much worse. About a year ago, I convinced my doctor to teach me to self-inject and to see if daily injections would help alleviate my neurological symptoms.

I have spent countless hours fighting for this prescription every step of the way with multiple doctors and again with pharmacies. Just last week, the pharmacist decided they knew better than my doctor’s instructions and sent only a three-day supply instead of 30. This screw-up led me back to my doctor begging for a new prescription that couldn’t be misinterpreted. It’s all just part of the frustration of chronic illness. But I’ve only ever been given 30 vials at most at one time, so 90 is something special.

So I choose to celebrate this moment — this miracle of actually, FINALLY receiving 90 vials of my Vitamin B12 Cyanocobalamin injection. Now I don’t have to worry about this for another 80 days and that is a major relief and today’s #OneGoodThing!

Day 102 of 365. And Day 468 in a row!

1 year ago today: Sushi and bear hugs
