I often turn to baking as a way to relieve stress. My favorite recipe to repeat during this quarantine has been SmittenKitchen’s Bittersweet Chocolate Pear Cake. We cannot get enough and we never seem to get sick of the flavors.
So tonight I made it again! This delicious cake is still baking as I write this, but here’s what it looked like when I first put it in the oven.
Today’s #OneGoodThing with Mama was late-night baking! What was your #OneGoodThing today? Please share in the comments! And remember, kindness is everything!
Day 152 of 366. And Day 1,613 in a row (here’s the first 366, & the following 365, & the third year of 365 good things, & the 4th year of good things)!
On this day…
- 1 year ago: Garden arch underway
- 2 years ago: Funny take on Shakespeare
- 3 years ago: The audacity of Harold
- 4 years ago: Home at last

Oh my, I went and read the recipe. That does sound delicious, and I am not even a huge fan of chocolate.
Is browning the butter tricky?

It is phenomenal!!! I’m obsessed! The browning the butter isn’t too hard. I think I burnt it the first time I ever tried but now I go more slowly 😳
