A hopeful sign for hugs

Hugs are what I miss most from pre-pandemic life. Today a hug from my best friend got one step closer.

As a Los Angeles County Health Department employee, Alyssa will be working at one of the vaccine megacenters starting next week. She got her first dose of the vaccine today in preparation. I am so proud of the work she does and seeing her joyful vaccine selfie gave me hope.

After spending FIVE HOURS on hold unsuccessfully trying to schedule vaccine appointments for Mama and me, this was the sign I needed to soothe my frustrated spirits.

  1. We (UK) have nurses giving the vaccine who haven’t had the vaccine themselves! There is currently 15% of the nursing workforce off work, either sick or self-isolating, yet the government didn’t put nurses at the top of the categories to be vaccinated first. What a SHAMBLES!
