Our watermelons at harvest time (with Mama’s thumb for size)

After months of growing and carefully watching, Mama and I finally harvested our very first watermelon today!

The melon started out super tiny — about the same size as Mama’s thumb. And it quickly grew!

This variety of watermelon is supposed to grow up to 8 to 10 pounds. Our big melon didn’t disappoint. It weighed in it at 7.6 pounds, and it was nice and sweet! The other three are still pretty small and so they’ll stay in the garden a bit longer. Overall, our first time growing watermelon seems a success!
