Very late last night our sweet little Abby perforated her eyeball. It’s exactly as awful as it sounds.

About a month ago Abby got an infected ulcer on her cornea, but it had been healing nicely with a strict regimen of eye drops until last night. It was horrible. Her entire eye socket looked deflated. We called the emergency line for her eye doctor, who came into the clinic in the wee hours to examine her. Abby ended up needing emergency eye surgery to save her eye.

Surgery posed a risk, especially given her other medical issues so we were all freaked out about it. Thankfully, Abby came through the surgery like a champ, according to the doctor.

Today’s #OneGoodThing is Abby surviving surgery and back on the mend!
