Happy Passover

The Jewish holiday of Passover began last night. Though I can appreciate the spiritual, redemptive messages of the holiday, it isn’t one of my favorites.

I love matzo ball soup and charoset is pretty good too, but I really can’t stand matzo or horseradish. Also, Passover frequently coincides with my birthday, which means no good cake. I had a birthday party with sponge cake once. Once. It was not good. Plus, I told my friends it was made of sponges.

Every year when I was a kid, Mama and I would watch the movie “The Ten Commandments” broadcast on TV. It became a tradition and we’d end up reciting lines along with Charlton Heston.

This year we’re doing Passover more low-key due to health constraints. We were supposed to be celebrating with some dear friends who live nearby tonight, but we just weren’t up to it. We look forward to joining them again next year.

Today’s #OneGoodThing is the first day of Passover. May those who celebrate have a happy holiday!

Day 101 of 365. And Day 467 in a row!
