We needed toilet paper a week ago, but we put off placing our Costco order because we weren’t sure we’d have a house to put it in. Our entire last week was consumed with daily preparations for evacuation. We felt paralyzed.
Now, a little more than a week after the fires first ripped through Santa Rosa, we are finally starting to resume life, albeit slowly. Today that meant finally ordering toilet paper. We are on our very last rolls now so it was getting desperate.
I also started unpacking our van — starting with my shoulder bag stuffed with important papers. We still have clothes, toiletries, family photos, and some other items yet to unpack. After we get some forecasted rain at the end of the week, I think we’ll feel better about unpacking the rest.
Life in Sonoma County after the fire will never be the same. It’ll take a while to feel anything like normal again, but slowly resuming life is today’s #OneGoodThing.
Day 263 of 365. And Day 655 in a row!
