Metal clay magic

Today I learned how to magically transform clay into beautiful silver rings!

I took a Metal Clay Rings Workshop at a wonderful, local art supply store called Riley Street. With only four students, it was easy for all of us to see the teacher’s demonstrations. This was my first time ever working with metal clay; I read about it in our local community college class schedule and googled the instructor, since the class was full. Mary Neuer Lee was a fabulous teacher — patient, helpful, and kind. I also enjoyed getting to know the other students.

I loved playing with different textures to pattern the rings, and then figuring out where I could add a little sparkle from the gems. Scrubbing the white clay to shiny silver after firing in the kiln was like discovering I could do magic. What a feeling!

I adore learning new crafts and this class was a lot of fun, so today’s #OneGoodThing was making metal clay magic!

Day 48 of 365. And Day 779 in a row (here’s the first 366 & the following 365)!
