I was feeling anxious and I had a little cry this morning. Our sweet dog Paisley responded by licking my tears — and then my entire face, neck, ears.
I’m not usually a fan of face licking at all, but her comforting me so insistently was one of the sweetest moments ever. I needed a shower afterward, but I let her lick her lick me until there were no more tears to shed.
Then I picked myself back up, made breakfast for Mama, and got myself ready for today’s infusion (a low dose chemotherapy that is helping treat my Crohn’s Disease).
I wear my grandmother’s locket and bring our beloved Abby’s small Boston Terrier stuffed animal with me to my appointments. But today, when the nurse couldn’t find a vein because I was so dehydrated from a Crohn’s flare, I just pictured Paisley comforting me in the best way she knew.
Today’s #OneGoodThing was the intense love of our dog, Paisley, at exactly the moment I needed it.
Day 122 of 365. And Day 853 in a row (here’s the first 366 & the following 365)!

Yes she is truly incredible. She’d never done that level of face licking to me before. It was such an intense gesture of love 💗
