Today we attended a memorial for our dear sweet friend, Bobbie, who passed away last month.
Mama and I met Bobbie through mutual extended family, when we moved to Santa Rosa nearly four years ago. Bobbie was one of those people you could meet and fall in love with immediately. She made everyone feel welcomed, loved, and special. Bobbie became my adopted grandmother and I loved spending time with her.
I was obsessed with Bobbie’s Mandelbrot, and she kindly shared her recipe. I had the distinct honor and pleasure of getting to bake the Mandelbrot with her in her kitchen, capturing the experience in photos and a #OneGoodThing post! It’s a memory I’ll always cherish, and Bobbie will live on in my heart.
For her memorial, I baked a batch of her famous Mandelbrot to share. I also added photos from our day of baking fun to the recipe she wrote, and prepared it in a one-page handout, so Bobbie’s memory can live on in all of our kitchens.
Today’s #OneGoodThing was baking Mandelbrot in Bobbie’s honor. If you’d like to make some of these delicious cookies (Biscotti-like with chocolate chips, golden raisins, and slivered almonds), here’s a link to the recipe: Bobbie’s Famous Mandel Brot Recipe. Enjoy!
Day 189 of 365. And Day 920 in a row (here’s the first 366 & the following 365)!
1 year ago today: Help from friends
2 years ago today: Abby’s triumphant return
5 years ago today: A Venetian Ambulance

A touching memorial and a reminder of how special and lovely each of us are in our own way.
I can’t wait to try Bobbie’s mendolbrat.
