The Rialto Bridge is one of four bridges that cross Venice’s Grand Canal. This beautiful stone arch bridge is the oldest of the four. For me, this iconic bridge is more than a symbol of Venice. It is home — my due North, if you will. It’s very easy to get lost in Venice (even with a good sense of direction), but once I got to the Rialto, I knew how to get home to our apartment, a very short walk to the Rialto. The photo above is from our apartment’s little patio onto the Grand Canal with the Campiello del Remer’s dock in the foreground. Picture sitting at the dining room table, look left to the Rialto Bridge and look right to the Rialto Market across the Grand Canal (our carefully selected apartment was in between the two).
