Today I got to learn how Bobbie makes her famous Mandelbrot (like Jewish biscotti). Though she’ll happily share her recipe, a one-on-one lesson in her cozy kitchen is a much coveted invitation.
When I arrived this afternoon, Bobbie already had the ingredients measured out and everything perfectly ready to go. That’s because, she told me, she doesn’t like clutter. We put on aprons and she walked me through the steps for her tried-and-true recipe that she’s been making for more than 50 years. You don’t mess with perfection.
I had a wonderful time visiting with Bobbie while the Mandelbrot baked. In her 90s now, she’s lived a fascinating life and has great stories to share. As honorary grandmothers go, she’s lovely and so special — and I’m grateful she’s part of my life. It was such a joy to hang out with Bobbie today!
Baking Mandelbrot with Bobbie was today’s #OneGoodThing! Thank you Bobbie!!!
