Baking in Nanny’s shadow

Baking in Nanny's Shadow - confetti cookiesToday I cheered myself up through baking cookies.

I decided to repeat the delightful confetti cookies I made during the holidays because they were so delicious and brightly colorful!

As I prepared the dough, I looked at this beautiful photo of my great-grandmother Nanny making matzoh balls. Mama took that iconic black-and-white photo — and it holds a place of honor in our kitchen. I often feel like she’s with me when I’m cooking.

Today Mama took a photo (on the right) of me baking with the framed photo of Nanny sitting on the counter in the background. Generations of women have put their love into food for our family; it was wonderful to feel connected. Today’s #OneGoodThing was baking in Nanny’s shadow!
