We have been craving fried bananas since we had them at a fantastic Burmese restaurant last week, and so tonight I tried to make them at home.
Years ago I made tempura bananas at home, but I was trying to avoid breading them tonight. So I found a recipe online and loosely followed it, swapping out the butter for ghee and the orange juice for a strawberry vitamin C juice. Also, I used less sugar than noted.
I’m glad I took a photo of our sautéed bananas before they really started to fall apart (they’re just starting to caramelize here). Our home version was still delicious, but not nearly as pretty or as delightfully crispy as the professional chef. I guess we’ll just have to have Burmese food again soon.
Today’s #OneGoodThing was making home fried bananas. They were so good we licked our plates clean! Good thing we were at home 🙂
