This morning Mama and I got up very early and tried to attend a local Town Hall meeting with our federal and state representatives.
About 2,000 of our neighbors had the same idea though, and so we weren’t able to get inside. Instead, we rushed home and streamed the meeting live on our TV! It was awesome! We could see and hear perfectly and felt so connected to our community.
The meeting was all about the Affordable Care Act and what will happen if the Republicans succeed in repealing it. The information being conveyed was horrifying and scary (because I’m alive thanks to the ACA), but it was heartwarming to see so many people engaged. The outrage was palpable. The crowd was standing room only. There was cheering, booing, and many thoughtful questions. We felt proud to be Californian and proud to be a part of the resistance. This stirring display of civic engagement was today’s #OneGoodThing.
Day 56 of 365.
