After such a wet winter, our backyard was an even denser weed jungle than usual this year. We don’t use weed killers that would hurt our beloved dog Paisley or threaten our health or the environment, so we did a little online hunting for a DIY weed killer recipe.
Mama and I made a small test batch recently and used spray bottles to great result. But we knew we couldn’t attack the entire yard with spray bottles or we’d hurt our hands. We ended up getting a little gallon sprayer and mixing up several batches to vanquish the weeds. Today we managed to spray about 95% of the back yard before we ran out of ingredients.
The mixture was simple: 1/2 gallon white vinegar, 1 cup lemon juice, and 1/2 cup castile soap. Here’s the website where we found the recipe along with a few helpful tips.
Though we are still very sore, today’s #OneGoodThing was successfully mixing up our own weed killer and spraying to reclaim our outdoor living area!
