Smells like Mema

My grandmother Mema died more than 20 years ago, but every time I smell Estée Lauder Youth Dew perfume, it feels like she’s hugging me again. Whenever I opened a letter or package from her, this scent greeted me first.

Yesterday while running errands, Mama and I passed an Estée Lauder counter and we couldn’t help ourselves. We picked up a sample of Mema’s perfume sprayed on a card. We left it in the kitchen and I swear most our house smells like Mema now.

Today’s #OneGoodThing was the power of smell memory.
