Most of my medicinal, herbal crop is from trusted organic farmer Emily at Grow It From Home and so I know those plants are female. However, this year’s crop included four plants of unknown gender (this matters because the males produce seeds and the females produce flowers).
Rather than risk contaminating my known female crop with male plants, I reached out to amazing women-led company, LeafWorks, who does DNA testing, and they kindly sent me 4 kits.
The testing process was so fast and really fun and I found out today that 3 of my 4 “Purple Lollipop” plants are male. So I immediately went outside and cut them down!
Today’s #OneGoodThing is excising the male plants! Thank you so much LeafWorks for saving my crop!!! Watch today’s video on YouTube or Instagram! Readers, what was YOUR #OneGoodThing today? Please share in the comments!!! Let us cheer you on! And remember, kindness is everything!
