Today something truly amazing happened. We planted a new tree in our backyard!

That may not sound terribly exciting, but it’s not just any tree. We planted an EMERALD BEAUT PLUOT tree!!! That’s right, we planted our absolute favorite fruit to grow in our backyard!

Mama and I been obsessed with this particular plum variety for about a decade, though they’re difficult to find and have a short season. At the rate Mama and I consume this magnificent fruit, it’s lucky for us that we’ll have our own tree.

Today’s planting was unintentionally well timed because this week is the Jewish holiday Tu Bishvat, which celebrates the birthday of the trees. It’s a minor holiday, but I have many fond memories of community tree planting with friends in the Bay Area and in Israel.

Today’s #OneGoodThing was planting our very own Emerald Beaut Pluot tree in our backyard! We’re so grateful to our friends at Ponce Farms who let us buy one of their trees, and major thanks to our friend Jose for helping us plant it this afternoon!
