More than 10 years ago, I started a personal tradition I call “Self-Care Sundays,” which helps me prepare for the week ahead. Some Sundays, Mama and I do face masks or I take a relaxing, fancy bath. Other times, I call one of my besties, organize my thoughts into lists/charts, read a book, revel in the feel of sunshine, or paint my nails. It’s whatever I need to do to feed my soul and take care of my body. I let my energy dictate the terms each week.
Today’s self-care started with letting Paisley groom/lick my hand to her heart’s content, while she held me in place with her paws. I’m not a big fan of being licked, but I decided to just feel the love that she so clearly wanted to express.
This afternoon I enjoyed a glorious soak in a peppermint-scented, Epsom and oatmeal bath, enhanced with a glass of our favorite wine, Moscato d’Asti, and one of my own freshly baked cherry chocolate chip cookies.
Mama and I applied paper face masks this evening. We tried new hydrating ones I found at Trader Joe’s recently. Our faces are now extra soft!
Today’s #OneGoodThing was a fabulous Self-Care Sunday!
Day 350 of 365. And Day 1,081 in a row (here’s the first 366 & the following 365)!
1 year ago today: My paper heart chain
2 years ago today: Accomplishing too many errands
