Today is the birthday of one of my favorite people on the planet. Alyssa and I first met when we were just 18, starting off college on the same study abroad program in Israel.

We have supported each other through joys and traumas—with all the cringeworthy but hilarious-to-us stories to prove it. Without a doubt, I would not have survived the last 12 years of caregiving stress without her love and understanding. She is my rock.

Alyssa recently became a mother to an adorable baby boy. And I cannot wait to meet my nephew next month. What a lucky child to have such an incredibly loving, kind, strong, beautiful mother!
