A total transformation

Before and After

Before and After the big transformation — don’t I look happier with less hair?

Today I had 12 inches of hair chopped off — and it feels great! I’m loving my new look!

The drastic change was sparked by the need to lose the weight of it, which was worsening my chronic migraine and neck pain. I hadn’t had a haircut in nearly 16 months. I was a little nervous to have it cut so short because I’ve loved my long locks. This is the shortest cut I’ve had since I was about seven years old; I hated it then because I’d get mistaken for a boy.

I was also nervous because I wasn’t going to see my trusted, beloved hair stylist from previous cuts (because we moved several hours away). I found a highly rated salon on Yelp called Dolce Vita and the owner, Kimberly, took care of me today. She was wonderful and put me at ease right away. She looked through all the photos I brought in and we talked about what I was looking for in terms of style, maintenance, overall effect and color. I enjoyed getting to know her and loved the care she put into my look.

I’m also happy to share that my hair was long enough to donate to a charity that makes free wigs for children with medical hair loss!

Today’s #OneGoodThing was my total transformation and the positive effects it has already had on my pain. I’m so glad I did this today. How do you like my new look?

    • Yes! That’s perfect! I was actually just thinking about how now I could rock some awesome dangly earrings and they’d no longer get lost in my hair! And thanks for the love, Michele!
