An auspicious anniversary

Asking for help is a challenge for me; I was raised to be as independent as possible. I hate being an imposition and I feel awkward with even minor requests. But today I was desperate and so I broke down.

I called our friend Nicole, who we’d met through her role as a beauty consultant for CVS one year ago today. I knew she was already working in stores (with gloves/mask) and so I asked if she could please drop off some distilled water for a CPAP machine for us. This kind woman then asked if there was anything else we needed—and she meant it!

I bit back my instincts to decline help, and I said yes! After struggling to get groceries delivered (we can’t leave our home during this quarantine because we’re immunosuppressed), we were desperately missing fresh fruit. We were also missing a few key ingredients I need to make myself a birthday cake later this month.

This wonderful friend delivered us this large box filled with gorgeous fresh produce from our favorite local organic grocers, all the missing ingredients for a cake, distilled water, and a birthday gift! What an absolute sweetheart! The very first thing we enjoyed was a bowl of strawberries and blueberries. They’ve never tasted sweeter!

Today’s #OneGoodThing with Mama was the incredible miracle of asking for and receiving exactly the help we needed and more! Massive thanks to Nicole and to all the wonderful staff at our local CVS and Oliver’s Market. We appreciate all that you do! What was your #OneGoodThing today? Please share in the comments! Kindness is Everything.

Day 101 of 366. And Day 1,562 in a row (here’s the first 366, & the following 365, & the third year of 365 good things, & the 4th year of good things)!

On this day…
