A new, fast-spreading wildfire burning nearby has forced thousands to evacuate. We are thankfully safe at home indoors, tracking the fire’s progress, and texting friends on the evacuated side of town to see if they’re ok.
Absolutely everything outside is covered in thick layers of large ash, the heartbreaking remnants of others’ homes. The sky has a surreal, bleak tinge to it once again. Our air filters have been working overtime to cope with the smoke, which seems to be seeping indoors a bit.
A wonderful local friend shared a recipe for an “Herbal Steam for the Home” to help clean the air. We simmered homegrown rosemary, thyme, lavender, and sage and it really worked! The house smells better and the air feels cleaner (at least to our eyes and breathing)!
Today’s #OneGoodThing with Mama was cleaning the air inside our home! Many thanks to the extraordinary Gloria Rubio Verduzco for sharing the Herbal Steam recipe by SisterHarvest with us!!! What was your #OneGoodThing today? Please share in the comments! And remember, kindness is everything!
