Before caregiving, I wasn’t much into gardening. But it was an excellent at-home activity that was beneficial to both Mama and me in myriad ways. And I loved trying to recreate the feeling of the Sunset Magazine scenes I’d seen as a kid. When my caregiving role changed recently, I wasn’t sure how I felt about gardening anymore.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about a lot of things. After 12+ years of live-in caregiving, I’m rediscovering who I am. Fatigue has yet to abate, and this new kind of caregiving is stressful in its own ways. Many days I’ve felt lost and overwhelmed.
My best tactic so far is to focus on seeing what brings me joy. It was nice to discover that tending to the garden is still a source of peace for me. These are zinnias I grew from seeds!
Today’s #OneGoodThing with Mama is still finding peace in the garden! What was your #OneGoodThing today? Please share in the comments! And remember, kindness is everything!
