Besides the purpose of growing food and herbs, I garden for my mental health. But mostly I garden for Mama.
Early in my caregiving role, a friend told me about a study that proved the amazing effects of fresh flowers on the elderly. Researchers at Rutgers found that flowers not only improve the emotional well-being of seniors, but actually improve their memory and endurance as well. From that moment, I have always tried to make sure Mama could see beautiful blooms from her bedroom.
Today’s #OneGoodThing with Mama was seeing her enjoy the colorful array of flowers in our garden from her window—making all my hard work worthwhile! What was your #OneGoodThing today? Please share in the comments! And remember, kindness is everything!
