Carrying forward my grandmother’s tradition

Chanukah gifts from my beloved grandmother always used to arrive in an enormous box filled with brown paper grocery bags. Each brown sack had the name of the recipient and which night it was to be opened. It was a fun tradition, which Mama and I have sporadically continued.

Back in the 80s, grocery bags generally didn’t have ads on them, so this was easier. Thankfully, I found these bags with a cute blue and white printed design at Trader Joe’s.

This Chanukah, I curated eight exciting bags for Mama and arranged them in her Assisted Living apartment with a tinsel decoration. She’s been enjoying the anticipation of each one and sends adorable, gleeful photos.

Today’s #OneGoodThing with Mama is carrying forward my grandmother’s traditions! Wishing all who celebrate a very happy Chanukah! What was your #OneGoodThing today? Please share in the comments! And remember, kindness is everything!
