Mama Jude and I went on a family outing to the farmers’ market today. September is the precious time of year when our favorite fruit—the Emerald Beaut Pluot—is in season.

We each got a bag of our beloved fruit, and Mama and I got to visit with the wonderful family of farmers who grew it. We’ve become friends with them over the 10 years we’ve lived here and enjoyed seeing their smart little boy grow up.

Of course, we couldn’t just get pluots. We picked up fresh bread and these flowers were simply irresistible.
