I’ve spent much of my life trying—albeit mostly unsuccessfully—to fit in. Being a weird kid was not an easy path. And I was weird in a lot of ways. Still am.
Becoming my mother’s full-time caregiver at age 29 only exacerbated my inner weirdness. After more than a decade of caregiving, plus my own chronic autoimmune illnesses, I realized I’d lost sight of myself almost entirely. When Mama moved to Assisted Living 18 months ago and my role was still significant but no longer 24/7, I needed to figure out who I was anymore. Lost would be putting it mildly.
The only shred left of myself that I knew to be true was a lifelong need to craft and be creative.

It’s hard, being that weird/different kid, eh? A lot of those who are labelled as such are mighty creative, and never get to discover that. I think that you have. ❤
