Oftentimes at the end of a trip, there’s a feeling of wishing it could continue indefinitely. Such is not the case for us this time. Mama and I are ready and eager to return home to California.
We had a wonderful time with our Italian friends and making new friends along the way. We enjoyed absolutely fantastic food, and we loved seeing the intricate architecture, beautiful art, and stunning views at every turn. We celebrated 1,000 days in a row of #OneGoodThing as well as Mama’s birthday.
We had a good time; it was just also a very difficult trip for us. I had figured it would be easy to find #OneGoodThing to write about every day for a month in Venice, but I was wrong. Mama and I struggled with the muggy heat wave, infected bug bites, and difficulties with getting her rollator walker over endless stairs, and more.
So in preparation for about 27 hours of door-to-door travel, we got ourselves all packed up today. We tidied our apartment, said goodbye to some of our friends, confirmed our travel reservations, and even Paisley had a pre-trip shower.
Today’s #OneGoodThing was finishing packing and feeling ready to return home from Venice with Mama! Many thanks to our friends who have helped us sort out our return trip nightmare these last several days. Also, Mama and I extend our deepest gratitude to the many strangers who were kind to us and who helped us over bridges or unlocked public toilets for the disabled.
Day 282 of 365. And Day 1,013 in a row (here’s the first 366 & the following 365)!
