Today is the last day before the mask mandate is lifted in California, so I tried to finish all the in-person errands I could. Starting tomorrow, vaccinated people aren’t required to wear masks—but it’s on the honor system to comply. Even though we’re fully vaccinated, Mama and I won’t be taking our masks off anytime soon. That would imply more trust in the general public that we can currently muster.
As an immunocompromised person, it’s unclear how effective the vaccine will be for me. I was still thrilled to be able to get it, but I function as carefully and cautiously as before. And as a solo caregiver, it’s important I take care of myself so that I can take care of Mama.
Today’s #OneGoodThing with Mama was completing most of my errands before the mask mandate is lifted and we essentially hibernate again. What was your #OneGoodThing today? Please share in the comments! And remember, kindness is everything!

Such an important post! A lot of people don’t know (or choose to not know) that some people might not be able to get vaccinated because of medical conditions. Or they don’t know how effective their vaccine is. Stay safe! They lifted the mask mandate here a few weeks ago and it just feels so strange.

Yes, I think you’re right that some people just choose to not know. Our society is very ableist. I had hoped it would improve and people would have more compassion given the last year. Oh how quickly everyone forgets.

Do you remember the name of the young lady who served at the Taverna al Remer? I keep forgetting names. I think it began with ‘S’. Does your Mama remember me?
You read it and liked it, but no answer. If you don’t remember her name, no problemo.

Yes! I meant to reply but was caught up in that night’s post. Her name is Sev, which is short for Severine. Though I believe she may have returned to France. She was a great friend! And yes, my mama remembers you. You’re hardly forgettable, Bert! Thanks for following ☺️ and I hope you’re well!!!

As an immuno-compromised last-year-as-a-septuagenarian, I will be wearing a mask in public for quite a while longer.
