Mazel tov for Mama’s 80th

Today was a truly awe-inspiring day. We celebrated Mama’s 80th birthday — or in Spanish, she has 80 years, the sound and implication of which she much prefers. After a medically stressful September, we’ve been leaning into the celebratory spirit.

Today was truly incredible as we got to meet a pair of famous artists whose work we’ve long admired. Patrick Amiot and Brigitte Laurent, who create whimsical and fantastical sculptures using junk, opened their home studio in Sebastapol to the public as part of the Sonoma County Art Trails.

It’s impossible to choose a favorite piece as they’re so varied and interesting, but I especially loved the juggling dog and the mermaid fountain (pictured on left). Many of their colorful, joyful creations are available to see around the county; we took ourselves on a tour of their work for Mama’s 75th birthday using a tour book we created. But to get to meet the minds behind the art that’s brought us such happiness is mind-blowing. How amazing to get to share with them what they’ve meant to us—and on such a special day!

Today’s #OneGoodThing with Mama is celebrating her 80th and meeting Patrick and Brigitte, who could not have been kinder and more welcoming! What was your #OneGoodThing today? Please share in the comments! And remember, kindness is everything!

Day 274 of 365. And Now Totaling 2,466 Days In A Row. Here’s the first 366 and the following 365, as well as year three, year four, and year five, and year six of #OneGoodThing Daily!

  1. Well, well, well, Jude has finally caught up to me and Phyllis! I just rounded the halfway point and am now closer to 81. Phyllis turned 80 in late August. May Jude enjoy many more years of life on Planet Earth.
