Learning Mama’s Sewing Machine

After accidentally enrolling in a Craftcation sewing workshop above my skill level, I decided to learn more rather than drop the class.

I took Mama’s old Bernina sewing machine in for a professional tuneup at a local shop since it has mostly sat covered in the garage for many years. While there, this wonderful woman Bernadette sat with me at a table in the back and walked me through all the basics.

Bernadette was patient and kind in helping me get to know this machine. I can now thread it and change the presser feet, bobbin, and stitch settings. I’m excited to get the machine back and start practicing!

I’m so glad I didn’t just drop the “Must Have Summer Caftan” workshop when I discovered my error. This was my top choice and I was thrilled to get in. No way could I back out!

Today’s #OneGoodThing is learning how to use Mama’s sewing machine from Bernadette at Village Sewing in Santa Rosa, to whom I will always be grateful for this important lesson! What was your #OneGoodThing today? Please share in the comments! And remember, kindness is everything!
