Pear cake experiment

Top: Sugar-crusted bittersweet chocolate and pear cake; Bottom: Cake (upside down) in baking dish and a slice with freshly whipped cream

Mama and I fell madly in love with a pear and chocolate cake when we were in Venice six years ago. Sadly, the restaurant no longer even makes it. So I did some recipe researching when we got home, and I was thrilled to find a Smitten Kitchen recipe for Bittersweet Chocolate and Pear Cake!

I found some wonderful, juicy pears at the market a few days ago, and so today I embarked on my first pear cake experiment. Though I’ve identified areas for improvement, it was absolutely delicious! Mama said she knew I’d captured the Venetian version on the first bite!

Today’s #OneGoodThing was enjoying a successful pear cake experiment with Mama!
