When I told Mama I was going to make a cake tonight, she asked why. Though I’m sure she meant was there a holiday or someone I was baking for, I told her the cake’s only purpose was for eating!
I proceeded to make a favorite of ours that we first enjoyed in Venice. It’s a bittersweet chocolate and pear cake (recipe from smitten kitchen). I added a few ginger chips just to add a little bite to it. But it was delicious! And ever so reminiscent of our special trip.

It was! And I’ll make one for you when you visit after the pandemic!!! Today we had it for brunch and I called it “Breakfast Cake” hehe
