Cuts like butter…

It’s the official start of zucchini season in our house. We’re growing two different varieties: Dark Green and Romanesco. Both types of zucchini are fighting the A-frame trellis with which we’re attempting to contain them, but we are enjoying watching them grow. Both sliced smoothly like butter. I cut the two into different shapes but…

If the “Cheers” bar was an organic market

The highlight of many a Fridays for the Nosy Parker family is my trip to our local organic market. Not only does Oliver’s offer incredible produce, but the bakers special-order our favorite ginger cakes and I’m greeted with hugs around the store! I love catching up with the kind-hearted staff, many of whom ask after…

Homemade granola debut

Mama and I baked homemade granola together this afternoon, and it was so good that we can’t stop eating it! Mama chose it for dinner and I ate some for dessert. We followed a recipe from one of Mama’s besties, More Diane, who also sent us a bag of her yummy granola. Flavored with cinnamon…

Colorful, smashed potatoes

They were easy to make: I boiled the potatoes with a sprig of fresh rosemary until they were soft. Then I smashed them with a spatula…

Pulling carrots

We welcome your favorite carrot recipes in the comments!!! Seriously, this large pile of carrots is only half of our…

Our first zucchini harvest

Today’s #OneGoodThing was harvesting our very first zucchini from our garden! Our zucchini went from garden-to-table-to-mouth within minutes and it was amazing! We sautéed it in olive oil with a little salt, pepper, and lemon juice. It was naturally buttery and delicious — and the freshest zucchini we’ve ever eaten! Day 178 of 365. And…

Table scraps reborn

Today Mama and I planted a successful table scraps growing experiment in our garden box. We saw this video with instructions circulate Facebook recently. I cut off the bottom 2 inches of the organic celery (from the market), and placed it in a glass with a bit of water. We loved watching the celery leaves grow…
