Cheese and ocean waves

Enjoying a little downtime at the beach; Cheese tasting at Cowgirl Creamery in Pt. Reyes Station

Today’s highlights included cheese tasting, ocean waves crashing, and really kind people.

When Mama and I learned about Cowgirl Creamery’s new cheese offering earlier this year, we knew we had to return to Pt. Reyes Station for another of their tasting classes/tours. We enjoyed seeing Cheryl, the wonderful and enthusiastic teacher from last year. I love her demonstration of making cheese curds—and ALL of the cheeses were incredible. Our favorite is still the Mt. Tam, which pairs marvelously with our favorite wine or just about anything.

Afterward, we took a picnic to a nearby beach. The feeling of the waves crashing mixed with the salty air was like a salve to my anxious soul. It was vastly superior to the ocean noises on my phone app. Mama and I read our library books until the waves lulled her into a nap. We could have stayed forever if it hadn’t been so chilly.

As Mama and I struggled through the sand with her rollator walker, a super sweet guy offered to help. Gary from Calistoga understood our plight, as he’d recently taken his mother to the beach and encountered the same difficulties. He helped us all the way back to the parking lot and we could not have been more grateful.

Cowgirl Creamery made a special cheese for Stephen Colbert and he sent them this cute photo!

Today’s #OneGoodThing was a lovely day trip to Pt. Reyes with Mama! Many thanks to Cowgirl Creamery and to Gary for making it a great day! What was your #OneGoodThing today? Please share in the comments!
