Starting to relax

Today is my first full day of vacation. And so far, it is glorious!

Our friend Jenny saw that I needed help and offered me her Palm Springs condo as a getaway. It’s spacious, comfortable, and fabulously decorated! I will be forever grateful for this much-needed break.

Benny and I flew directly from Santa Rosa to Palm Springs early yesterday. After barely catching our breath, we used Lyft to go on a supply run to Target and then cooled off with a late-night swim.

It is a scorching 102 degrees here, but the dry heat feels good on my aching joints. Thankfully, I brought my icepack hat for my migraines. And thank God there’s AC! I’m looking forward to another swim tonight!

This will be the longest I’ve been away from my amazing Mama in 12.5 years. She’s doing great and our beloved respite caregiver Sara is there for her. I do not have to worry so I’m trying hard not to succumb to my anxious patterns.

Now is the start of my relaxation. And that is today’s #OneGoodThing! What was your #OneGoodThing today? Please share in the comments! And remember, kindness is everything!

  1. We loved Palm Springs when we visited back in 2005. Still the highest temperatures we’ve ever experienced (50c). Was amazed to find the hotel actually had to chill the swimming pool water, otherwise it was like getting into a bath.

The drive into town was fantastic through the valley lined with wind turbines, are they still there ? Or are solar panels now taking over as the main provider of electricity?

    • That doesn’t surprise me about the swimming pool. Even the hot tub here is cooler than the daily temperatures! I’m not sure about the wind turbines. I flew in and then took a Lyft. I saw a lot of solar panels, but perhaps both are utilized? Too bad they can’t generate power from the heat!
